Transforming the way Hoosiers travel

Indianapolis Airport Authority

Our Partnership

As the five-time winner of the ACI North American Airport of the Year award and named Best Airport in America by Condé Nast Traveler, the Indianapolis Airport Authority approached TrendyMinds with the challenge of replicating their phenomenal onsite experience on the their new website. The site redesign and rebuild was fueled by the need to reach travelers, central Indiana businesses and potential employees with streamlined content and UX. And the goal was simple: quickly provide today’s busy and often distracted travelers with the airport information they need.

We were tasked with strategizing, designing and building phase one of the site within a 45-day window, testing our team’s ability to innovate against the clock. We used site performance and audience insights to prioritize content hierarchy, integrations and site templates. Phase one, launched in March 2016, focused on creating an easy-to-use homepage, updating all facility information and getting quick airline, flight and parking information to travelers.

Impact

Prior to the roll out of phase one, the site lacked mobile optimization. The new design has resulted in improved experience for mobile users, and travelers can now find real-time information about flight status and parking.

Mobile-First Design

Mobile-First Design

Travelers use the site to access flight status, parking and airport information. They're more likely to use a mobile device than business partners or potential employees and less likely to stay on the site if they don't find immediate information. This resulted in a mobile-first homepage that features an app-like design with flight status and parking integrations.

Catering to Multiple Audiences

Catering to Multiple Audiences

A key challenge in redesigning the site was balancing user needs. Each audience—travelers, businesses or prospective employees—accesses unique content. Catering to each without disrupting others' experiences served as a key focus during design.
